I met Hukaah when I was very young. I was gathering cactus apples outside of the Valley of Trials. He was there killing scorpids and offered to help me. One look into his amazing blue eyes and I couldn't say no. I still can't even today.
Looking back neither one of us really knew what we were doing. We had no real experience. As time went by we developed our skills, discovered new talents, learned a couple of trades, and earned a reputatuion or two along the way.
The first person to befriend me outside of Hukaah was a Paladin named Decon. We met him in the middle of the Barrens near the Crossroads. He helped me to train my first big cat Echeyakee.
Echeyakee was with me far past his prime. I cried when the day came to release him. Since then I have been privilaged to tame and train a few special compainions: Barnabus the wolf from the Badlands, Ravage the Hyena in the Blasted Lands, and in Winterspring it was Rak-Shiri.
In those days Decon, Hukaah and I only had each other. Our home was whatever inn we were staying at. While staying at Splintertree Post in Ashenvale, we met Undeadpallie. He took us under his wing and gave us a home. He literally gave me the tabard off his back. Everytime I give my tabard to a new member I am reminded of that moment and how proud and grateful his simple act made me feel.
That's how Fuzzy Silppers of Doom became my home, my first true family. It will always have a special place in my heart. I eventually earned a title of Pink Slipper (an officer rank). We were a very close little family. Skurge with his fearless curiousity almost got us killed more times than I can count. Earadriethie the fun loving mage made everything the life of the party. There was the soft spoken and gentle druid Bits... that is, until you made her mad. And lastly Socksiepoo, our voice of reason, most of the time.
Unfortunately, our perfect little family didn't last forever. Undeadpallie eventually retired from fighting. The last I heard, he was settling down and starting a family. We were still together but without leadership. I was afraid of losing the only family and friends I had as the guild was slowly disbanding. So I turned to Hukaah and slowly convinced him to join me in creating our own guild.
And that was how Assume the Position came to be. Our charter was signed by our fellow officers and friends from Fuzzy Slippers. Those were the early days of AtP. It was just a bunch of friends having fun. No officers, no rules, and no real clear plan for the future. Eventually, Bits and Socks, who never were never apart, left to venture out on their own. Bits gave up fighting and made learning the focus of her life, and Socks followed her as expected. We still keep in touch with them through Sock's twin, the outspoken and notorious Bubblesocks.
Skurge and Earadriethie are with us still. Earadriethie changed her name to Isilwen to avoid the attention of some very important people. And Decon, well, he will always be around, he and Hukaah are like brothers.
Other people have touched our lives as well. I met Nickle while hunting centaurs in Desolace. He was hunting alliance and stopped to give Hukaah and I a hand. I've heard he has recently left to explore far distant lands. If you happen to see him in your travels, ask him to tell you the story of the hardended leather pants.
Then there was Poup. She was part of the alliance that was always to be found outside of Revantusk Village, killing turtles. At first she was constantly harrassed, but she persisted, and eventually became accepted. Rumors about her sudden dissapearance still exist today.
Beastao the dwarf I met in Winterspring. What started out as an alliance attack ended in a mutal respect and friendship. He turned out to be the first of many.
I've had my fair share of adventures too. Some are worth telling, like the time I found myself fending off felboars near Thrallmar with nothing but a fishing pole. And others, like my experience in Jintha'Alor, we just don't discuss.
Well that the short version of how it all started and how I got to where I am today. Our guild family is still growing everyday. Friends have come and gone, each one touching my life in some fashion. My adventures are far from over. I don't know yet how the rest of my life's story will play out. You'll just have to stick around and see.
